I didn't reach out to a photographer expecting such an awakening.

You're doing such an amazing thing.

Because for all the things built to keep us small, we rise.

It's no secret that growing up female in our society comes with some great struggles. Most of which are learned or encountered at a young age.

From sexism, to high societal expectations, to perfectionism, to being shamed, to unrealistic body standards, to unrealistic motherhood standards, to the early adoption idea that girls have a certain "girl" behavior that is expected of them, even to it being her fault when a boy has no control over himself. There are many things out there that we face daily from such a young age.

And yet, for all the things built to keep us small, we rise.

We rise through adversity.

We rise through trauma.

We rise through abuse.

We rise to become mothers.

and business owners, despite the "stats".

and mothers while also being business owners... again, despite the stats.

and even empty nesters, creating a new business, all despite the stats.

We rise through all the self questioning, the imposter syndrome, the second guessing, the third guessing, and the opinions of those who will never understand,

and once again, for all the things built in this world to keep us small. We rise.

... and oh, when we do, it is truely a thing of beauty and art.

Even when we feel like it's a mess, it's beautiful, and elegant and powerful.

It's Art.

It's the Art of the woman.

It's the Art of becoming a woman.

It's the Art of Her.

The Art of Leadership

In Conversation with Danika Carlsen

In Conversation: The Art of Leadership is an editorial series presented by Jessica Korff Studios, exploring how modern leaders shape community, possibilities, and culture. Through intentional portraiture and thoughtful conversation, we examine the craft of leadership behind the brand.

This installment features Danika Carlsen, founder of Carlsen Infinity Jewelry, a growing jewelry studio that has evolved from a summer pop-up into a full-service design and repair business. What began as a permanent jewelry concept has expanded to include custom design, goldsmithing and silversmithing, engagement rings, and restoration—craft rooted in both artistry and precision. At its core, her work centers on sentiment: creating pieces that mark connection, memory, and identity.

Known for her hands-on approach and commitment to education within her industry, Danika leads with both technical mastery and creative intuition. From night markets to one-of-a-kind heirlooms, she builds more than adornment—she builds experiences that invite clients to show up as they are. Her leadership reflects a quiet boldness: grounded in craft, shaped by community, and guided by a belief that no one else can replicate what you uniquely bring to the table.

Interview with Danika Carlsen

Jessica: Tell us about your business. What do you do?

Danika: Carlsen Infinity Jewelry started as a permanent jewelry pop-up in the summer of 2023. Since then, we have grown into a fully rounded jewelry business. Our services now include: jewelry repair, permanent jewelry, custom jewelry design, goldsmithing & silversmithing, and engagement rings.

Jessica: Why did you choose to do what you do?

Danika: I have always been a person who loves art and crafting. As a child I would often get into my mother’s jewelry box just to put my hands on all of the beautiful treasures. As a teenager I learned to make anklets and bracelets with hemp string and beads, the original permanent jewelry. My friends and I would make friendship bracelets and tie them on, leaving them on until they fell off.
When visiting my sister in Idaho for her first baby shower, in the spring of 2023, she took my mother and I to get our first permanent jewelry. I fell in love! As a stay at home mom for the previous 6 years I was craving something completely my own that would serve as a creative outlet and bring me face to face with others in my community.

Jessica: What do you love most about what you do?

Danika: The amount of joy I experience when creating one of a kind pieces of jewelry that are sentimental to me and my clients is hands down the best part of my job.

Jessica: What is a myth about your industry? Can you debunk it?

Danika: “Permanent Jewelry is soldered on.”
While I have seen some artists soldering directly on top of their clients “permanent jewelry” refers to chain that is attached using a welder. Soldering deals with molten metal that can drip and burn while spot welding delivers a small electrical shock melting the metal together in one flash and can even be touched directly after with little to no heat transfer. If you see someone advertising for permanent jewelry soldering just know that they have not been properly educated.

Jessica: What is one thing you wish everyone knew before working with you?

Danika: Come as you are. Be your beautiful self and enjoy the personalized experience because you deserve it!

Jessica: What is your number one tip or piece of advice, as it relates to your industry?

Danika: Don’t compare yourself to others. No one else can be just like YOU.

Jessica: With everything you know now, if you had to start your business over in a new place where you didn’t know anyone, what is the first thing you would do?

Danika: I wouldn’t change a thing! Starting at night markets not knowing anyone was such a valuable experience. I had to be brave and bold from the start and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Jessica: What is one piece of advice you would give your younger self?

Danika: Love yourself even the parts of you that you don’t love learn to accept them. You cannot come fully into your power if you do not lean into yourself. Lean into your intuition and skills

Jessica: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Danika: I have 8 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 gerbils, and a handful of fish as well as a small organic garden in my backyard where I grow all the herbs I cook with and some veggies and fruits. I’m a “Jack of all trades” kind of gal and I love to build and make things.

Jessica: What are you passionate about outside of your business?

Danika: Outdoor adventures, time with cherished girlfriends, brunch in fancy peaceful places, food/cooking, raising my 3 beautiful children and constantly growing in love and marriage with my other half.

Jessica: Describe your perfect day.

Danika: I love to sip my coffee and watch my chickens, then go to brunch. Taking long walks with my dogs and exploring nature. Jumping into a swimming pool and then a light nap. Creating something is a MUST and all the hugs and kisses from my husband sounds like paradise. I also love to look for shells on any beach.

Jessica: What would you say to someone thinking about doing a session with Jessica Korff Studios?

Danika: Do it! You are worth it and she is so talented.

Jessica: Where can people find you?
