The Fire, The Strength & The Art of Women Rising.
Too many stories go untold.

Because for all the things built to keep us small, we rise.
It's no secret that growing up female in our society comes with some great struggles. Most of which are learned or encountered at a young age.
From sexism, to high societal expectations, to perfectionism, to being shamed, to unrealistic body standards, to unrealistic motherhood standards, to the early adoption idea that girls have a certain "girl" behavior that is expected of them, even to it being her fault when a boy has no control over himself. There are many things out there that we face daily from such a young age.
And yet, for all the things built to keep us small, we rise.
We rise through adversity.
We rise through trauma.
We rise through abuse.
We rise to become mothers.
and business owners, despite the "stats".
and mothers while also being business owners... again, despite the stats.
and even empty nesters, creating a new business, all despite the stats.
We rise through all the self questioning, the imposter syndrome, the second guessing, the third guessing, and the opinions of those who will never understand,
and once again, for all the things built in this world to keep us small. We rise.
... and oh, when we do, it is truely a thing of beauty and art.
Even when we feel like it's a mess, it's beautiful, and elegant and powerful.
It's Art.
It's the Art of the woman.
It's the Art of becoming a woman.
It's the Art of Her.

Interview with Canna Yamamoto, of Karuna Reiki
Jessica: Tell us about your business, what do you do?
Canna: am a Reiki Master/Teacher. I have taken all levels of Usui Reiki, Karuna Reiki, and Medical Reiki. I am also an Ordained Minister with The Web of Life Church, Certified in Pastoral Counseling and Restorative Yoga. I have helped my clients with grief, anxiety, depression, confidence, and traumas frominjuries and abuse. The time I spend with my clients is based on their specific needs. Many will come for relaxation and stress reduction. I adjust the treatments to your needs. I work with all ages, from children to the elderly. I work with the LGBTQ+ community and people of all beliefs. It is recommended that you visit once a month after the initial session to keep your spirit balanced.
Jessica: What do you love most about what you do?
Canna: I love to help people. My greatest joy is when someone tells me they can move forward and leave the pain and hurt behind. I have always been a teacher, helper, and advocate for the people in my community. It is a beautiful feeling to spread love and kindness. I love watching people grow.
Jessica: What is a Myth about your industry? Can you debunk it?
Canna: Reiki is not a religion. Yes, there is scientific evidence that reiki works. If you want to read more you can go to https://www.reiki.org/articles/reiki-scientific-evidence I am an Ordained Minister and a Pastoral Counselor in Animism. I became ordained so I could practice in hospitals in the United States. Here are my statements of beliefs in connection to animism:
We exist within our intricate web of life, and within our web, all beings share energetic information, connecting everything without intermediaries. Every form of life, even those beyond our understanding, is part of this connection. Humans are one family of sentient beings. Every individual of every gender, race, sexual orientation, and tradition, is valuable and possesses autonomy over their own sacred body, mind and soul. We pray for the protection of the web of life/”Nature” because all beings on Earth depend on plants, soil, air, and water for Life (shelter, nourishment, medicine, and joy). Throughout our lives, we experience significant passages that serve as sacred milestones, deserving of communal ceremonies. Every natural place is a sacred “holy land,” and Earth itself is our “house of worship.”
Through our sacred senses, we can perceive non-physical realms and the beings within them. We have the natural ability to connect with, and seek guidance from, these realms during both waking and dreaming states. To realize our collective potential, we must ensure social, gender, reproductive, and environmental justice for everyone, because we are all connected.
Our spiritual life compels us to gather in the physical world, the spirit realms and online through Earth-honoring ceremonies, spiritual connection, community circles and mutual care.
As members of this Earth community of interwoven lives, we commit to contributing to the wellness of the whole because we all belong.
Jessica: What is one thing you wish everyone knew, before working with you?
Canna: I want you to get better. I challenge you to grow within yourself to succeed in the outer world. I will be honest with you. I am not a psychic. I do have the ability to see messengers. The message they bring is based on spirit animals. I sometimes receive wisdom in words or images. You can choose to take these messages or leave them. I am not a doctor. I do not diagnose or prescribe medication. I may prescribe activities that will enhance your well-being.
Jessica: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Canna: Reiki keeps me mobile. When I don't self-reiki, I can tell I am off balance. I have health issues and I have learned how to manage them with Reiki, Meditation, Yoga, and consuming healthy foods. Because I am an Empath, I need to stick to a regular routine, to keep me healthy.
Jessica: Describe Your Perfect Holiday Experience
Canna: Spending time with friends and family is important during the holidays. I love sharing meals and stories and playing games. We love to cook together.
Jessica: Anything else you would like to add?
Canna: I am especially good at balancing my client's chakras. This is important to keep the Spirit, Body, Mind, Yin and Yang balanced. I am married. We have been together since 1979. I love animals, plants, and dark chocolate. I love to bring people together, but I am a silent observer. I prefer to speak of what I love than to share dislikes.
